Hadrian Legend Error; 117-138 AD, 137-138 AD, Denarius, 3.14g. Cf. RIC-2325. Obv: HADRIANVSAVG COS III P P Bust laureate r. Rev: VOTV (sic)PVBLICA on l. and r., Hadrian sacrificing from patera over tripod altar. Ex Curtis L. Clay Collection; ex Dionysos, eBay, 19 Jan. 2018. VOTV for VOTA might be a mint engravers error, since the style of the coin looks official. A plated ancient counterfeit in good style also seems possible, since the edge chip behind Hadrians portrait seems to reveal a base-metal core below thick silver plating.. gVF
